अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (पचासवीं कड़ी)

                                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.५६-१८.६०)                                                                                                       (With English connotation)
दिखता वह संतुष्ट खिन्न यालेकिन संतुष्ट या खिन्न न होता|
उसकी आश्चर्यजनक स्थिति काज्ञानी को ही ज्ञान है होता|| (१८.५६)

When wise man appears happy or dissatisfied to
the world, he is neither happy nor dissatisfied.
Only a wise man having similar state of mind can
understand the wonderful state of his mind. (18.56)

कर्तव्य बोध का नाम ही जग हैउसको ज्ञानी नहीं देखता|
निराकारनिर्विकारनिरामयज्ञानी सब में शून्य देखता|| (१८.५७)

The world is nothing but a sense of doing or
achieving something. A wise man who is shapeless,
spotless and unchanging does not see all these
things. (18.57)

मूढ़ है कुछ भी कर्म न करकेव्याकुल हो विक्षोभ से रहता|
योगी सब कुछ कर्म है करताफिर भी सदा शांत है रहता|| (१८.५८)

Even while not doing anything, the fool remains
agitated and restless, but the Yogi remains at
peace even while doing everything, which is
to be done. (18.58)

सुख से बैठतासुख से सोतासुख से ज्ञानी आता जाता|
सुख से बोलतासुख से खाताज्ञानी सदा शान्ति है पाता|| (१८.५९)

He sits at ease; he sleeps happily and eats happily;
happily he moves and speaks. In this way the wise
man always remains at peace. (18.59)

वह व्यवहार लोकवत करतालेकिन कोई दुःख न होता|
गहन सरोवर के सम ज्ञानीशांत सदैव सुखी है होता|| (१८.६०)

The wise man even while doing and behaving
like an ordinary man of the world, does not
feel any pain due to his nature. He always
remains happy and at peace, like a calm deep lake. (18.60)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (उनंचासवीं कड़ी)

                                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.५१-१८.५५)                                                                                                       (With English connotation)
नहीं है वह कर्ता या भोक्ता, जब साधक को ज्ञान है होता|
तब सम्पूर्ण चित्त-वृतियों का, निश्चय सदा नाश है होता|| (१८.५१)

When one realises that he is neither the doer
nor reaper of the acts performed by him, then
all mind waves are certainly destroyed forever. (18.51)

ज्ञानी की स्वाभाविक स्थिति, उच्छृंखलता भी श्रेष्ठ है होती|  
इच्छाओं से भरे मूढ़ की, कृत्रिम शान्ति न शोभित है होती|| (१८.५२)

The unassuming licentiousness of the wise man is
better than the deliberate and assumed stillness
of the fool. (18.52)

विषयों का वह भोग है करता, या गहन कंदरा में जब रहता|
मुक्त कल्पना, बंधन, बुद्धि से, ज्ञानी का मन शांत है रहता|| (१८.५३)

The wise man whether enjoying the pleasures of
the senses or living secluded in a cave, remains
at peace because he is free from imagination,
bondage and unfettered intelligence. (18.53)

राजा, स्त्री, पुत्र देख कर, या देव, तीर्थ का पूजन करता|
धैर्यशील ज्ञानी के मन में, कोई कामना भाव न जगता|| (१८.५४)

The wise man while paying respect to celestial
beings, holy places, king, woman or son, does
not feel any sense of attachment in his heart. (18.54)

स्त्री, पुत्र, सेवक या नाती, यदि सगोत्र उपहास भी करते|
उनसे धिक्कारा जाने पर भी, योगी मन में विकार न पलते|| (१८.५५)

Even after being ridiculed or humiliated by wife,
son, servant, grandchildren or relatives, a Yogi
is not at all disturbed mentally.(18.55)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (अड़तालीसवीं कड़ी)

                                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.४६-१८.५०)                                                                                                       (With English connotation)

रहित-वासना सिंह पुरुष को, देख विषय हाथी छुप जाते|

गज विषयों की एक न चलती, वे उसके सेवक बन जाते|| (१८.४६)

Seeing the desireless man like lion, the elephants
of senses run away and if they are not able to
do so, they surrender and serve him as servant. (18.46)

स्थिर मन, निशंक ज्ञानी है, न मुक्ति उपायों का हठ करता|
लोकदृष्टि सब कर्म है करते, आत्मानंद में स्थिर वह रहता|| (१८.४७)

The one who is established in self and is free from
doubts, does not make strenuous efforts for
liberation. Even while doing all the acts of senses,
he remains at peace and established in his self. (18.47)

तत्वरूप के श्रवण मात्र से, चिंता रहित है ज्ञानी होता|
अनाचार आचार उदासी, इन कर्मों से वह मुक्त है होता|| (१८.४८)

The one, whose mind is carefree and undisturbed,
merely by hearing the Truth, is free from doing
all acts as he does not find anything to do or not
to do or even for indifference. (18.48)

जो स्वभाव में स्थित ज्ञानी, बालक सम वह कार्य है करता|
शुभ या अशुभ कर्म जो आता, बाल सुलभ प्रयास से करता|| (१८.४९)

The  one who is straightforward does, like a child,
whatever act, good or bad, is presented before him. (18.49)

स्वतंत्रता से सुख मिलता है, परमतत्व भी प्राप्त है होता|   
स्वतंत्रता से शांति है मिलती और परमपद प्राप्त है होता|| (१८.५०)

By inner freedom one attains happiness and also
realises the Supreme. By inner freedom one 
achieves eternal peace and ultimate state. (18.50)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (सेंतालीसवीं कड़ी)

                                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.४१-१८.४५)                                                                                        (With English connotation)

जो निरोध हठ कर के करता, उसका मन निरुद्ध कब होता|
रम्य आत्मा में ज्ञानी का, संयमित चित्त स्वभाव से होता|| (१८.४१)



How can the ignorant one abandon the thought,
when he is running after it. But it comes naturally
to the wise man, who remains established in his Self. (18.41) 

कोई पदार्थ की सत्ता माने, कोई उस पर विश्वास न करता|
ज्ञानी है मुक्त सदा दोनों से, आत्मानंद में मग्न है रहता|| (१८.४२)

Some believes that something exists and some
believes to the contrary. The wise man is liberated
from both the thoughts and, therefore, remains
happy in his inner Self. (18.42)

अपनी अद्वैत शुद्ध आत्मा का, केवल मन में भाव है रखते|
आत्मा से अनभिज्ञ मूढ़ जन, शांति-रहित जीवन में रहते|| (१८.४३)

The man of lesser intelligence thinks about the
pure non-duality of himself, but being ignorant
of the same due to his delusion, he remains
unfulfilled in his life. (18.43)
              
आत्मा से परिचय न जिसका, बिन आलम्ब न बुद्धि रहती|
मुक्त पुरुष की बुद्धि लेकिन, निष्काम निराश्रय ही है रहती|| (१८.४४)

The one who is not aware of his self does not find
a resting place within, but the one, who is liberated,
is free from desires and, therefore, needs no
resting place. (18.44)

विषय रूप व्याघ्र आतंकित, मूढ़ स्व-रक्षा प्रयास है करता|
एकाग्र निरोध सिद्धि करने को, चित्त गुफा प्रवेश है करता|| (१८.४५)

Being afraid of the tigers of the senses, the
ignorant takes refuge in the cave of his mind
in search of cessation of thought and
one-pointedness. (18.45)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (छियालीसवीं कड़ी)

                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.३६-१८.४०)                                                                           (With English connotation)
अभ्यास कर्म से है अज्ञानी, कभी मुक्ति को प्राप्त न होता|
ज्ञानी कर्म रहित हो कर भी, ज्ञान मात्र से मुक्त है होता|| (१८.३६)

The stupid person does not attain liberation 
by regular practice, while the wise man even
without doing anything achieves liberation,
merely by understanding. (18.36)

परम ब्रह्म रूप चाहता होना, अज्ञानी को ब्रह्म न मिलता|
ज्ञानी पुरुष न इच्छा करके भी, ब्रह्म बोध रूप में रहता|| (१८.३७)

The ignorant wants to become Supreme God,
but he never attains the same, whereas the
wise person remains established  in the status
of Supreme God, even without desiring the same. (18.37)

ग्रसित निराधार आग्रह से, जग का पोषण अज्ञानी करता|
सब अनर्थ का मूल ये जग है, ज्ञानी उसको नष्ट है करता|| (१८.३८)

Being involved in baseless desires, the ignorant
nourishes the samsara, whereas the wise man
knowing that this samsara (world) is the root
of all sufferings, destroys it. (18.38)

ग्रस्त शान्ति पाने की इच्छा से, प्राप्त शान्ति न मूढ़ है करता|
आत्मतत्व का निश्चय कर के, ज्ञानी है सदा शांत चित रहता|| (१८.३९)

The stupid person does not attain peace, because
he desires it. However, the wise man, concentrating
on the inner truth, always remains at peace. (18.39)

उसको दर्शन कहाँ आत्म का, केवल दृश्य वस्तु सच माने|
दृश्य पदार्थ है नहीं देखता, ज्ञानी अविनाशी स्वरुप है जाने|| (१८.४०)

The one who believes only on what he sees from
his eyes can never see the Self. The wise person
does not see any visible thing, but sees his infinite
Self. (18.40)
